

Mr. George Y. Barker, 88 of San Diego, California went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 28, 2019 a week shy of his 89th Birthday. George was born to George and Ruth Barker on November 4, 1930 in Superior, Wisconsin. He came to San Diego with his family in 1944 and settled in for the next 75 years. He was in the San Diego High graduating class of 1948, earned a degree from San Diego State University and served his country for 4 years in the United States Air Force. George never married but loved his sister's family as his own and was lovingly called Uncle Georgie. He never, ever missed a birthday, always remembering by sending a comical card to everyone. He was a history buff, loved the broadcast radio industry, old movies and reading the newspaper with a focus on comic strips. He was known for having a pocket full of comics to share with his family at holiday gatherings. He loved San Diego and enjoyed walking for exercise greeting his neighbors along the way. George is described by his family as a homebody, having a dry sense of humor and being very family oriented, George is survived by his sister, Barbary R. Clark, nieces; Lucinda R. Kassotis (Chet), Katherine E. Webb (Randy), 6 great and 14 great-great nieces/nephews. Services will be private.
