George Richard Peterson

George “Pete” Richard Peterson passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at his independent living home in West Covina CA following complications from a fall and a battle with cancer. Born June 21,1939, in Culver City CA, he was the son of Frederick Albert and Freida Elizabeth Peterson and brother to Anna and Fred. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy while stationed in Long Beach, CA. George was introduced to his wife Janice by his best friend in the Navy and was married for 54 years until Janice passed away in 2014. Janice was his true love and meant the world to him. George valued hard work, discipline and respect for others throughout his life. His interests include dirt bikes, camping, baseball, horse racing, bowling, fishing, and golf. George is survived by his three children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. George will be laid to rest next to his beautiful wife at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside CA. You are loved by many and will truly be missed.

A Message from the son

Dad,

You came back way too late and I was scared that I forgot a lot about who you were and if I could take care of you. You were never afraid of challenges and here your son was, and I am sorry for that. But as always, God knew better, and I will be forever grateful. You were never a burden Dad you were a blessing from the moment you got here. I will always cherish the last few months we had together and especially picking on you because that’s what we do best. I want to thank you for sitting down with me, going through pictures and telling me about your childhood, which I never knew. Your beautiful Mom, your insanely smart Father, your wonderful sister and your crazy brother. You had a pretty tough gig Dad but you did ok. Hearing about your Mom really makes me wish I could have known her like I knew the rest. While I was writing this I paused for a moment, glanced at the wall and got a vision of you and Mom with the whole family up there and everybody was smiling and waving. The best part of this was your beautiful sister Anna waving and smiling in her new body and she was so happy. She smiled and said I will take care of George so don’t worry and I knew then that everything is gonna be ok.
