GEORGE EDWARD THAYER, AGE 72 , passed away November 13, 2025. Born to George and Angeline Thayer on October 18, 1952, George grew up in Santa Ana, California, graduating from Mater dei Catholic High School.
George is survived by his wife Pam, his son Pat, Pat’s wife Grace, and two grandchildren, Noah and Emily; and George’s sisters, Susan and Lynn.
He was lovingly thought of by many in the family as “Mr. Fix-it”. And for good reason. George’s career spanned over 25 years as a master mechanic with both Waste Management and Hemet Unified School District. It is there he acquired his nickname “Flaco”…skinny in Spanish.
Always walking to the beat of his own drummer, George was always a rebel, sporting long hair and a beard.
As Pat was growing up, George enjoyed taking the family to Lake Hemet and the Sequoias for camping and fishing.
George had quite the “green thumb”. For many years we all received the benefits of his flourishing garden with homemade hot and yummy salsa, and chili peppers.
One of George’s greatest passions was fishing. Not just any fishing….but going to Baja and fishing for Dorado in Loreto. The harder they fought, the happier he was.
His greatest love though, was Pammi, his wife of 47 years. Together they made a life, raised a son and built a legacy.
You will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory, located at 1501 W Florida Ave, Hemet, CA 92543, United States. The service is scheduled for December 12, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
