

Jerry passed away July 8, 2016. He was born in Fresno, Ca. August 1, l921. He was the first born and
the last surviving of five sons born to Marie and Frank Throckmorton. Jerry is survived by his wife, Vicki
Puterbaugh, his daughters, Karen Machado and Kris Spencer, his sons, Jay Throckmorton and Paul
Throckmorton, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. After
graduation from Santa Clara High School in 1939, he attended San Jose State University. He was a
printer in the Navy during World War ll. Jerry became a successful Realtor in the San Francisco Bay Area
in 1955. In 1987 he thought he had retired when he and Vicki bought an RV and toured Mexico, Canada
and Alaska. ln 1989 they discovered and fell in love with Temecula. Jerry's retirement quickly ended
when Vicki got her real estate license in 1990. With Jerry's continuous work and support, they
flourished in local real estate and enjoyed volunteering in the growing community. Jerry was a charter
member of Temecula Valley Elks Lodge 2801, He was named Elk of the Year in 2004. He enthusiastically
delivered the Neighbors Newspaper as part of an Elks' service. At 89, he received recognition as their
"oldest paper boy". He felt he'd come full circle; he was Santa Clara's first paperboy when he was 13.
For years Jerry was active in the Realtors' Food Drives for the local pantries. He volunteered at the Wine
and Balloon Festival, the Susan G Koman Run and was very active with the Habitat for Humanity local
home builds. Jerry said his philosophy was "Every Day's a Holiday" because every day something good
happened to him. His beautiful attitude and zest for life brought much fun to the lives of others. He will
be greatly missed.
