Hazel is survived by her children, Brenda, Tony, and Paul, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, her son, Mark, and her granddaughter, Angie.
Hazel was born on October 2, 1931, in San Diego, California, to Harry and Eva Belle Gilbert. She graduated from San Diego High in 1949, and she married Ed Rodgers, on April 13, 1952. For most of her life, Hazel worked for the San Diego Unified School District, baked award winning pies and raised a family. Over the course of sixty years, the couple welcomed four children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren into their home. Hazel set about teaching them to love and honor their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family remembers her as a loyal, dedicated, and determined mother, who encouraged them to stand firm on what is good, right, and true.
Hazel was accomplished at baking, crocheting, and keeping a heartfelt home. She was a devoted Christian, who loved to share her testimony, and was passionate about honoring God and caring for her family. She was an active and dedicated member of Hemet Valley Baptist Church in Hemet, California.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 24th at 11 AM at Hemet Valley Baptist Church. Dr. Dale Garland will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Hazel's life. The family would like to thank you in advance for honoring Hazel.
