

James (Jim) Arnold, 79 of Hemet, California died on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at home surrounded by family. Born August 11, 1931, he was the husband of Olga Arnold for 60 years. Jim was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and proud of his service. He was an avid race fan - building and racing his own cars as well as watching races. He participated in dirt track racing in Texas, New Mexico and California. He raced in the Baja off-road races and drove in numerous road rallies covering Mexico, the US and Canada. Jim and Olga spent their 25th anniversary in Maui which became their favorite place to vacation. Jim loved to play golf and enjoyed collecting coins. He enjoyed a good steak and Mexican food, even perfecting his homemade tamales and chili. He loved dogs of all kinds and they loved him as well. Jim will be remembered for his strong opinions, his spirit of adventure and his love of life.
He is survived by his wife Olga Arnold, mother Retha Thorn, two daughters Gayle (Rick) Williams and Dorothy (Larry) Phelps, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet, California 92543.
Interment will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Ramona Humane Society.
