My family's best friend
It's been a month to the day since Jeff went home to be with the Lord. I've sat at the computer numerous times, not sure how to express how much Jeff meant to me and my family. I met Jeff more than 35 years ago when he was an irritating little brother of my friend Rob. We lived 3 blocks apart and Rob & I both attended Moreno Valley High School and were in the same bowling league at March Air Force Base. Rob was the Best Man at Kathy & my wedding in 1984. When I married Kathy, Jeff told her that he knew me first and therefore we came as a package. Jeff watched our kids, house sat for us, went to Hawaii with us, attended every major event our family had -- including birthdays, graduations, holidays and yes, Elixabeth's wedding. Jeff was also my sports buddy. We attended UCLA football and basketball games, Angels games, and more than 100 LA Kings hockey games. The picture above was taken when Jeff went with Elizabeth, Matt & I to a Tip-A-King event. It feels absolutely hollow to root for the Kings for 40 years and have them go the Stanley Cup Finals for only the 2nd time in their history and Jeff not be here. We rooted for our favorite teams during March Madness and various playoffs. I think of Jeff daily and go to call or text him, only to realize he's not on earth anymore. One thing Jeff taught me is to be thankful for what you have and not be concerned with what you don't have. Be happy for the many laughs we had and memories we shared. Do the best we can with what God gives us. Be thankful that Jeff believed Jesus condescended to become a man, died on the cross for each of our sins, rose again from the dead, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, that anyone who puts their faith & trust in Him will have eternal life in Heaven. Because, for believers like Jeff, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Thank you God for the time we had with Jeff. We are all better off for spending time with him. As Jeff said after he was told the leukemia had come back, I'm going to take advantage of every opportunity because we don't know how much time we have... Be forgiving of one another, (none of us is perfect)...It might be the last time you see them...

Go Kings Go!
I knew Jeff my entire 25 years of life. He was my dad's best friend, therefore I had to like him as well! He used to walk me home from the bus stop when I was little, and he helped carry me all throughout Hawaii when I was 4 and didn't want to walk. I remember he always smelled like Dr. Pepper and he taught me my bad habit of cracking my knuckles! Jeff and my dad would always gang up and tease me when I was little, so for the longest time I would always give him a hard time; yet he put up and loved me anyway. He was at every single birthday party growing up, almost every holiday & graduation and if not a holiday, most football, hockey and basketball games. Growing up I would sit with my dad and Jeff and watch Hockey and even went to countless games together. He taught me to be loud and rambunctious at The Forum & Staples Center and cheer on our Kings. When my dad had season tickets, Jeff was always down for the 70 mile drive into LA and another 70 miles back. Don't forget this almost always included a trip through In N Out. I'm sure my family could go on, and on forever about Jeff. My mom always said him and my dad should go into a slogan business since they were always coming up with something new and witty for everything. Jeff wasn't just a "friend," he was a apart of our family. He without fail always told me I was his "niece," and when I was married last October he was not a happy camper nor was he nice to my husband because I was leaving to move to Australia. I came home this past January to visit and I left the day after Superbowl, so it should be fitting that the last time I saw Jeff was Superbowl Sunday. It's strange to know he is now in Heaven, but lucky for us we will see him again. Now as the Kings are winning their way into the Stanley Cup Finals it seems surreal without Jeff. We've waited years and years and YEARS for this moment, for a WINNING Kings team, and of course Jeff should have a front row seat with Jesus.

We miss you heaps, Jeff, especially my mom and dad! <3

A Wonderful Friend and A Brother from another Mother
Jeff was a huge part of the Tracy/Verdugo Family. He was a friend of Tim's and later became a part of our family. Jeff was always their for me and my family, he helped watch Elizabeth when she was little, he watched our house when we went on trips, took care of our dog. He even went to Hawaii with us back in 1990 and spend a wonderful 2 weeks there. I can remember at Eliz' college graduation when he went up with us and Tim and I shared a room with him (he snored all night!). We can't forget about the Kings Hockey Team--he justed love to go to the games and yell! He just loved the March madness time-yet as the Lord knew--Jeff wasn't able to go this year. Jeff also encouraged and supported Tim and I when we took our Matt to boarding school. He was the first to know and he helped us along the way. I thank God that now our friend is up in Heaven with our Lord and I know he will be yelling and celebrating when the Kings win the Stanley cup! Also, I'm going to miss him with Matt's graduation this year from high school. Jeff was always there for us helping to set up for parties or whatever clebration we were having. Praise God for the relationship we had with Jeff!

Jeff was truly a very very lovely person, I will always cherish the memories of him. There are so many wonderful memories and funny moments at the M. V. Senior center we shared, Jeff will be missed alot!

Oh lil bro...you will dearly be missed.Your life cut way too short.We are now left with a lifetime of memories.Your first concert where we sat in front of Jerry West(haha).When we took Cyndi to her first Styx concert("I didn`t know they did this song").Hannah`s first concert....of course Styx.Styx music will now have a very special meaning for us.Our long talks over the phone.Our conversations on the computer where we only used song titles or lyrics.The Bob Dylan impersonations at family gatherings....you had everyone just busting up in laughter.What a sense of humor.The Kings games where you taught me hockey rules.My cat smashing through the glass of the stereo cabinet...your Shadow trying to chew his way out the front door when we went to dinner while you visited...So many memories....I will miss you..."God knows its Heaven where you are.Find some peace there,may it never end.Dear Bro my heart knows....we`ll meet again."

My best friend's bro!
Dearest Jeff, tho we only met a few times in passing at Lake LA, I know most of the rest of your family. My heart aches for them as your passing will leave a huge void for the Evan's. May you look down and protect your family. Please send Jean and Mom and the rest the strength they will need. And....may you REST IN PEACE and never feel another iota of pain. MJ and Charles Cammack

My uncle was the biggest sports fan you could ever meet. Ask him almost anything and he'd have an answer for you. I remember always coming to him for his opinion on things happening in the world of sports. He was my go to sports friend that I could always count to give me not only sports facts and information but also a good laugh. That's something you should know about my Uncle. He had the greatest humor. No matter what he would be talking about he made sure to throw a joke or two in. He was always making me laugh! I think his witty humor caught on to the whole family, and I know that we would all wait for him to tell another joke. Something else you should know about my Uncle is that he cared and loved for his family deeply. I know that he'd do anything for us, no matter what. Uncle Jeff always loved it when we would come visit and he would never miss the chance to come and swim with us in the pool :) 
You were a great man Uncle Jeff, I will always love you and will always remember you for the person you were, I will never forget you. May you rest in peace now.

Bingo Bear
I met Jeff at the senior center and ending up making name plaques for his family. He surprise me with a singing bingo bear at the center. That bear is always sitting on my mantle which always reminds me of Jeff when I see it. I treasure that bear. He will never be forgotten.

We shared a birthday
I met Jeff several years ago at the Senior Center in Moreno Valley. He always had a way to make a person smile. And then there was the sport side of him. He always followed his favorite teams and could rattle off stats better than anyone I knew. There were times when he would come to our house and we would order pizza and watch a game on TV. After, we would go to Farmer Boys and he would order a pastrami sandwich. We once went to an Angels game and when the game was over, when we got to the car, the battery was dead. I (Cheryl) shared a birthday with Jeff. Carl and I will miss this wonderful and fun person.

My true buddy and friend has gone to a better place, no more pain and hospitals. But I am going to miss our Thursday night Football games.Also our lunches together, had some laughs together that will always be remembered. Love you very much Jeff. Miss you more. Thelma and Steve

I WILL ALWAYS HAVE GREAT MEMORIES OF MY FRIEND JEFF. JEFF WAS QUITE THE CHARACTER...VERY INTELLIGENT...ACTIVE...LOVER OF SPORTS... OPINIONATED...AND A VERY LOVING FRIEND...JEFF WAS ADMIRED AND ADORED BY SO MANY...HE WAS SO CARING AND GIVING TO SO MANY...I FEEL BLESSED TO HAVE HAD JEFF IN MY LIFE AND ABLE TO CALL HIM A WONDERFUL FRIEND I WILL MISS SO VERY MUCH!....FRIEND DARLEEN RIZZO

You fought a brave battle! Now you will no longer have pain and no more chemo! We love you and YOU will be greatly missed. We have so many memories from the short time you were with us. I know you are running in heaven with Shadow now :)
