Joan Lee Olsen

Joan Lee Olsen went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from her home in Hemet California at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband Gary Olsen, their four children, Ron (Lori) Olsen, Gail Syrstad, Larry (Jill) Olsen, and Marilyn (Gary) Wagoner; 11 adoring grandchildren; and 10 precious great-grandchildren.

She was born June 6, 1933 to Lester and Helen (Tucker) Harrison. Joan grew up in Lynwood California with her older brother Richard and younger brother Roger. Her older sister Carol died at the age of 3 before Joan was born.

In January 1951 at the age of 17, Joan married the love of her life, Gary Olsen of Southgate California. They were married for 68 years, raising their family in the cities of Lakewood and Cerritos California before retiring to Hemet California in 1993. After retiring Joan and Gary enjoyed many years of traveling the country in their RV for months at a time. Always returning to their home base in Hemet to be near their growing family.

Joan was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker who loved to host friends and family gatherings in their home. Her love for baking earned her the name “Cookie Grandma” with her great grandkids. As she always had plenty of fresh baked goodies to share with all. In her later years Joan also filled her days with crocheting many, many beautiful afghan blankets to give away, blessing countless family, friends and many others. Joan’s servants heart and love for others has touched and greatly influenced so many lives...her beautiful legacy will continue to represent the love of The Father to many generations. Forever in our hearts...until we see you again!!

A family graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held Friday, September 27, 2019 12:00 p.m., Menifee Bible Church, 26815 Murrieta Road, Menifee, CA 92585
