Joe David Campbell, was born in Paola, Kansas, on November 23, 1927, to parents Carl Mason Campbell and Lois (Williams) Campbell. He was raised in Indiana, the youngest of three brothers. He is loved and survived by his daughter Judy and Carroll Trader, granddaughter Elizabeth, and great grandchildren Landon, Audrey and Ronan and daughter Sandra Hambric, granddaughter Shannon and Mike Coon , and great grandson Connor Coon.
First Master Sergeant, USMC retired, he was a decorated Marine of several campaigns and is remembered as one of the Choisen Few of the battle of the Choisen Reservoir In Korea November -December 1950. With temperatures below 40 degrees, little shelter, and supplies short, the enemy was held at bay, and our men walked out heads held high. Semper Fi Dad, I know you’re guarding the gates of heaven.
