

John Vincent Macauley, 86 of Murrieta, California passed away on November 17, 2015.
John was born July 16, 1929, in Boston Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Leon Benedict Macauley and the late Jessie Banes Macauley. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Jean Matz Macauley.
John grew up in Hartford Connecticut where his fond memories of his youth brought a lot of laugher to his family through his stories.
John was an AAU State Champion swimmer in Hartford, Connecticut. He competed in the national championships at the New York Athletic Club and finished 8th nationally. He was inducted into the Hartford High School Hall of Fame in 2011.
John was a graduate of Boston University before embarking on a career in sales with Monsanto Chemical Corporation. He continued in sales management with Industrial Molding Corporation (IMC) and with AB Plastics. His ability to listen, offer wise counsel and a quick sense of humor were his trademarks. He loved to tell stories about his work and always had good word to share about his colleagues.
He served as a Tech 5 in the Army from 1946 until 1947. He was stationed in Italy for his military service. He was a Veteran of World War II and received the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1947. He loved his country and putting the flag out every morning was a daily ritual at his home in Murrieta, California.
Family was very important to John. He often told stories of his children and expressed how proud he was of them. When he was not spending time with the family you could find him playing golf, enjoying a game of poker, or having fun playing fantasy football.
Surviving are sons, John Andrew Macauley, Robert James Macauley, Mark William Macauley, Mathew Edward Macauley, and Thomas Patrick Macauley, daughters, Mary Ann Macauley Wright, Kathleen Elizabeth Macauley Piercy, and Joan Marie Macauley Garcia, Lifelong friend M. H. Hearn, 21 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren.
