

Kathleen Carole "Kathi" (Hoffman) Lopez, 45 year old Hemet resident lost her valiant battle with breast cancer at 5:06pm on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta, California with many family members and loved ones at her side.
Kathi was born on October 28, 1969, to Jim and Penny (Vaughn) Hoffman in La Mirada, California. She lived in La Mirada until 1975 when her family moved to Woodward, Oklahoma. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1987 and attended one semester at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Kathi moved to Hemet in 1988 and began what would be a 27 year career at Stater Bros. Market.
On October 8, 1994, Kathi married her love, James Lopez. This union was witnessed by James' daughter Erin Miche' and was blessed with two children, Tyler James and Mackenzie Kathleen. They made Hemet their home their entire married life.
Kathi's passion was family. Her home was your home and she loved to cook, especially for family and friends. She was happiest when she heard her children laugh and she herself had an infectious smile. She was extremely giving, always loving and very forgiving. Her family describes her as "Good at being Great." She will be dearly missed.
Kathi is survived by her husband James, son Tyler and daughter Mackenzie all of the home; step-daughter Erin Gonzalez and husband Ricky of Riverside; mother Penny Moore of Plano, TX; sister Kim Shafer and husband John of Mesquite, TX; sister Nicole Hoffman of Menifee; sister Melissa Eddolls and husband Mike of Winchester; mother-in-law Mary Lopez of Hemet; sister-in-law Anna Lopez-Hay and husband Steven of Fresno; Six nephews and nieces: Cole Shafer, Cale Shafer, Emmett Eddolls, Avery Eddolls, Baby Eddolls (on the way), and Kaliyan Hay as well as many, many more loving family members and friends.
Kathi was preceded in death by her father Jim Hoffman and paternal grandparents Wayne and Eleanor Hoffman.
A memorial service to celebrate Kathi's life will be held at 10:00am Friday, May 29, 2015, at Community Christian Church, 41762 Stetson Avenue, Hemet, CA 92544. A Celebration of Life will be begin at 12:30 at the Lopez home. A private interment will be held at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery.
