Kim Limbrick-Martin was born on November 4, 1966 to Carol Limbrick. Kim didn't have any contact with her birth father so when Carol met Norman Willis III in 1975, he became her father. To this union was born Kim's only sibling, her brother Norman Willis IV.
Kim accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. In 1985, she graduated from Lincoln High School in San Diego.
On January 25, 1986, she met the love of her life, Darren Martin, at a car wash in San Diego. They were married on December 11, 1987, in San Diego. To this union were born two sons, Dominic and Darius.
Because Darren was in the United States Navy, the family lived in San Diego, CA; Pensacola, FL; and Oxnard, CA, before settling in Hemet, CA. During these years, Kim became a Medical Assistant and operated a home daycare business in addition to taking care of her own family. Often, she had to do all of this while Darren was deployed away from home.
Kim loved angels, dancing, spending time with family, playing board games, playing bingo, eating tacos and shopping. She cared for the children in her daycare so well that they came to adore her as a second mother. She treated her daycare parents as family members, not customers. Her true passion was her grandchildren who know her affectionately as "Big Mama".
In March 2005, Kim was in a car crash with a drunk driver that resulted in very serious injuries. Although she never fully recovered from the injuries, she never complained and always demonstrated a positive attitude that reflected a strong faith in God. She served in various ministries, most recently as First Lady of True Restoration Christian Fellowship.
Kim made a peaceful transition on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at her home. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carol (November 2010) and father, Norman III (November 2016).
Kim leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving husband of 28 years, Pastor Darren Martin; two sons, Dominic and Darius; foster daughter, Kelly Taylor; brother, Norman Willis IV (Ashanti); grandchildren, Alia, Dominic II, Draya, and Darius Jr.; godsons, Bra'jon Montgomery and Horatio Espinoza; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
