Larry Wayne Fellows, 77, passed away on July 20, 2024, in Loma Linda, California, at the V.A. hospital, with his loving wife and son by his side. He fought a long and valiant fight enduring the effects of Agent Orange.
Larry was born on April 22, 1947, to proud parents, Clifford Lee Fellows and Leorra Mae Parker Fellows, in Muskegon, Michigan. Larry was the eldest of five siblings: Lee, Duane, Gloria, Linda, and Carol.
Larry graduated from Western High, in Anaheim, California, in 1965. Over the years, he kept in touch with many of his classmates and looked forward to the reunion they would have every year in October.
In 1966, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served in the Vietnam War where he served three tours. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow veterans and you rarely saw him without his Veteran hat. He was a true Patriot.
In 1993, Larry met Julianna Lee, or as he referred to her as, "the love of my life," and they married on December 28, 2000. They built a wonderful, busy life with three more children: Andrew, Cody, and Sable, and two step-daughters: Loralynn and Christina, which added to his own grown children, Scott and Tonya. He had such a big heart. He even became a foster Dad to many little ones. He enjoyed staying active with his children and grandchildren, attending all the sports activities and getting them out boating on Lake Havasu. He was the anchor of his family. Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Whenever he walked into the room, he had a "presence," as the kids called it, a bigger than life kind of guy. The love for his family was immeasurable.
In his professional life, Larry drove trucks after getting out of the service for a few years, then he spent 26 years working for the State of California, Chino Institute for Men, as a Correctional Officer, ending his career there as Industrial Warehouse & Distribution Manager. After retirement, he worked for EES (Executive Events Services), where he thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and making so many friends. He never thought of it as working.
The family will forever remember Larry for his sense of humor, love of playing dice or Texas Hold'em, chocolate cake, lobster on his birthday, and his unwavering devotion to his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lee.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Julianna; sons, Scott (Mandy), Andrew and Cody; daughters, Tonya and Sable; step-daughters, Loralynn and Christina; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Duane (Diana) Fellows; sisters, Gloria (Frank) Lepage, Linda (Steve) Eltiste, Carol Fellows (Otto); many nieces and nephews; and life-long friends.
A Celebration of Life will follow at Seven Hills Members Club, 3050 Jacaranda Way, Hemet, CA 92545, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
