

She was born on May 7, 1920 in Lafayette, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Hugo and Anna Swenson. LaVerne was baptized and confirmed at Bernadotte Lutheran Church and married to Clyde Stroman there on April 18, 1943. They just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. LaVerne retired after 27 years at Crystal (MN) State Bank in 1982 as Vice President, Operations. LaVerne loved to scrapbook, had over 125 photo albums and scrapbooks and knew what was in every one of them. LaVerne and Clyde owned a lake cabin in Minnesota where all the children, grandchildren and many other family and friends have fond memories of visiting. Later they spent retirement years in Mesa, AZ before moving near their daughter in Hemet, CA in 2006. LaVerne was very proud of being Swedish. When things went wrong she would utter "uff-da", a favorite Scandinavian expression. She made the best sweet buns for family gatherings and then topped it off with the best pumpkin pie ever. Her family describes her as efficient, determined, and very family oriented. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hemet. Surviving is her husband Clyde Stroman, sons, Daryl (Sandra) Stroman, Chaska, MN and Duane (Deborah) Stroman, Tacoma, WA, daughter, Elizabeth (Tom) Yuzer, Menifee, CA, brothers, Dennis Swenson, James (Shirley) Swenson and Leland (Linda) Swenson, sister, Audrey Swenson; sister-in-law, Orvilla Swenson. LaVerne was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Stephanie (Craig) Brown, Poway, CA, Beth (Patrick) Tapp, Isabelle and Zoe, Minneapolis, MN, Krista (Jerrol) Sigsworth, Xander and Brooklyn, Tacoma, WA, Britta (Steve) Ashman, Riley and Mason, Boston, MA , Elika (Danny) Fisher, Lansing, MI, Tyrell Stroman, Chaska, MN, Caleb Stroman, Chaska, MN and Logan (Marie) Stroman, Annville, PA., as well as many nieces, nephews and friends Preceded in death was her sister Carol Swenson, sister Genevieve Nelson and her husband Lennart, brother Sheldon Swenson, and sister-in-law Jeanne Swenson. Services will be held at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on a date and time to be determined.
