Marie Patterson, 83, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Friday, Sept. 8 at Ramona Rehab and Acute Care. A memorial for Marie will be held Sunday, Sept. 17 at 4pm at Miller Jones Funeral Home in Hemet. Marie was born in Diana, West Virginia to Willard and Velia McCourt on April 8, 1934. She was the third of seven children and remained close to her siblings throughout her life. Marie was happily married to Raymond Patterson for over 50 years, living in California during the majority of that time. They raised three children: David, Raymond II, and Colleen. Marie owned several businesses, including a gift shop in Big Bear and a cheesecake bakery which she opened at age 68, The Wee Leprechaun Cheesecake Shoppe. She enjoyed traveling (especially to Ireland), baking, gardening, playing golf, shuffleboard, card games, painting, and much more. She is survived by her husband Ray, daughter Colleen, granddaughters Michelle, Tarra, Christina, and Emily, and siblings Kathy, Cliff, and Marjorie.
