Marjorie Ione Blomgren passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2011, after a short illness, at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, CA, surrounded by most of her immediate family. Margie was born in Nassau, MN, December 11, 1926, to John and Lillian Hewitt. In 1943, she moved to California with her family, where she met her husband of 65 years, James Blomgren. Jim was discharged from the US Navy in 1949, and they moved to Ithaca, NY. After several years, the cold winters took their toll and Margie & Jimmy returned to California. Marge was a devoted mother and a wonderful homemaker while raising her family in Norwalk, CA. Later in life she traveled across the country with Jim, who was a Technical Inspector for NASCAR, and Marge could be found working at the Pit Gate at many of the big races. She and Jim then spent a number of years in Yakima, WA, until they relocated to Hemet, CA in 2000, to be closer to the family. Marge is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Blomgren, daughter, Linda Williams of Norco, CA and 3 sons: Frank Blomgren of Bend, OR, Bruce Blomgren of La Quinta, CA and Stephen Blomgren of Lake Mathews, CA. Marge was blessed with 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Lillian Lysing of Fremont, CA and Gloria Maple of Clairton, PA, and was preceded in death by sister Ramona Cooper and brother John Hewitt. Marge was a wonderful and patient Mother & Wife (she had to be with this family)! She was a 'Food Network' cook before the Food Network, loved to crochet, play cards (Skip-bo was her favorite) and always enjoyed a trip to the casino to play the slots. She loved animals and especially her little dog, Twinky. Marjorie was a very gentle spirit and she will be missed by all that knew and loved her. A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave, Hemet, CA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
