Mary Lou Allender, 83, recently of Rancho Bernardo, but long time resident of Hemet, passed away Tuesday, July 9th, 2013, at the Pomerado Hospital in Poway, afterstruggling with dementia for several years. Mary Lou was born April 30th, 1930, in Joliet Illinois. She received her BA degree from Oregon State University in 1952. While at Oregon State she met and married Robert Voigt and had four children, Gary, Kitty (Kathleen), Patrick and Denise. Bob and Mary Lou lived in the Northern California area until Mary Lou moved to Orange County in 1967. In 1972 she married Roy Allender and moved to Hemet several years later. Mary Lou worked for the City of Hemet until she retired in 1993. Mary Lou bowled on the Inflation Fighters Bowling League, sang with the Happy Harmoneers, played bridge with numerous clubs and was a long time member of the Hemet chapter of TOPS. Mary Lou is survived by daughters Kitty Van Winkle (husband Carl), and Denise Widre (Mark), 8 grandchildren, and 9 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Gary and Patrick and husband Roy Allender.
