She changed my life!
In 1994 I was looking for a positive church - something more. My way of life wasnt working anymore. Shortly thereafter, My Aunt sent me a Science of Mind of Mind Magazine. It really resonated with me. I happened to look at the back of the magazine and found a church located in Quincy Mass. Not too far from where I lived. I was headed out the door one day to check it out and I got a slight nudge to call first, so I did. A sweet woman answered and told me that in the summer services are held in the evenings. That evening I walked through the doors. The kindest most welcoming woman met me and I felt I had come home. This woman was Maureen. Maureen created and opened this church and it literally changed my life. Every week I took a class she was giving and in this class met my best friend. Maureen introduced me to so many ideas and philosophies. Because of the teachings, the change in perceptions, the rememberings of my true essence and how beautiful and magical we are my world opened to amazing opportunities and adventures. I will never forget this magical time and how it changed my life foreve. I met my husband during this time. Maureen married us in historical clothes in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. I went on to teach and inspire others. A story/teaching Maureen shared, and one I now share with others is this. Imagine for the upcoming week counting as many old and junky cars as you can see and find. After doing this we reported that we saw a lot. Maureen then asked how many Mercedes cars we saw? We didn't remember seeing one. For the next week we were asked to count how many Mercedes cars we saw. Of course we saw a lot and don't remember seeing one old, beat up car. Change your life by changing your thoughts, your focus.

My life is forever changed and blessed. Thank you Maureen for being you. I know you will continue to shine your light and touch all who are fortunate enough to enter in your presence.

To Mike, Marshall, and Eleanor. My most sincere sympathy for the loss of your daughter and sister. I unfortunately did not know Maureen but have known Mike for many years and Marshall from YMCA Indian guides and Eleanor from being a neighbor to Larry Hubbert. John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

In addition to Holistic Health care I am also an Ordained Minister. I will do visits with the sick and dying, laying-on-hands healing prayer, weddings, naming ceremonies, and funerals. I will hear confessions and inventories.

My personal history includes a mostly-Methodist upbringing. I had many mystical experiences over the years. Then, studying Religious Studies at San Bernardino Valley College and University of California, Riverside, I found truth in all religious -- if I kept focused on the mystical center of every religion.

I also studied hypnosis, counseling, and other helping disciplines. After leaving the university, I began to study Religious Science, which is primarily psychology in a spiritual mode.

After 20 years in the ministry, I found that my childhood dream of being a nurse became a new possibility, so I included the care of the physical body with the care of the spiritual. 'Physical' includes the very fine energy that is commonly called Prana.

In addition to the work I do through agencies, such as Assisted*, which will deduct the taxes and do the bookwork for you, I also offer private work: including, Supportive Homemaking, Companion, and Personal Care for ill and recuperating clients, as well as services such as managing appointments and transportation to Doctors and others. I also help with paperwork and will make any arrangements for cleaning help and other assistance as needed.

Holistic Health Care

Holistic, or Wholistic, Health Care includes physical assistance, mental, and spiritual practices and exercises.
An example of this is an exercise that Maureen teaches on, "Self-Massage for Diabetics". The activity is designed to help people with Diabetes care for their feet and hands in such a way that they diminish the potential for experiencing peripheral neuropathy. The exercise includes physical massage, guided imagery and visualization, and some form of spiritual work, such as prayer or meditation. Holistic Health Care does not exclude any prescribed medications or recommended procedures.


Holistic Health Care may include:
Meditation: is a very healing practice, for the body, the mind and the spirit. Including deep breathing and correct posture; it helps the body to heal itself, provides peace of mind, and frees the spirit.
Mental Imagery & Self-Hypnosis Training: is very useful for changing the effects of thinking or feeling in certain ways. It also provides for relaxation and getting peaceful rest. It can be used to retrain the body to perform in specific ways.
For example: a woman who had difficulty urinating after a long-time catheter was removed, used self-hypnosis to re-train her body in normal urinary function.


Healing Touch, similar to Reiki, Pranic Healing, or Laying-on of Hands: this spiritually-based procedure is a Holistic healing aid using energy.
For example: a client who had cancer of the spine ex-perienced reduction of pain after a Reiki treatment.


Massage and Self Massage: is excellent for restoring circulation to the hands and legs, in fact, any part of the body where there is a need for greater blood supply.
An example of Self Massage is the work done with patients who have beginning stages of diabetes, where it helps to prevent complications in the feet such as pain from peripheral neuropathy.
Transportation:
Getting to the Doctor or Dentist.

Recreation.

Shopping.

Companion care:
Preventing accidents.

Cooking special meals for your condition.

Tidying the house.

Helping you entertain your friends.

Being an extra "memory chip" for you.

Helping with paperwork and record-keeping.

Fees and Agreements:
The fees charged vary with the services being performed. They are in alignment with those charged by area agencies that provide similar services. In some cases, requirements of greater expertise or responsibilities of the work of Maureen Christopher makes higher fees necessary. An agreement will be drawn up which specifies all work to be done and charges to be paid. Because "Holistic Home Health" is the contractor, the client will not have to deal with deductions, insurance, or other costs. There is no charge for telephone calls under 5 minutes, nor for mileage under 10 miles.



Experience:

Maureen Christopher has had extensive experience in Home Care, working with such conditions as brain injury, depression, post-surgery, metabolic disorders, stroke, cancer, and many more. She has cared for some families for as long as 2 years. Others have been just a few visits. In addition to training as a Certified Nursing Assistant and as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, she has also had over twenty-five years experience offering spiritual support and counseling in the realms of mind-body-spirit training and practice. A full resume' of pertinent training, certifications, and education will be provided to all clients who request it.

I remember one very precious teacher, Mrs. Locke. She was only my teacher for a short time, only a couple of months, or so. Then, our one-room country school unified with a larger one in 1949; but I will never forget her. She smelled like powder, every day. And, she was always a sweet, kind, powdery-gentle woman. I remember, too that she always let me read as much as I wanted and even let me go to the older kid's section of the library to read the more interesting books. I got a certificate that year for reading 40 books.

And her birthday was on May Day, the first of May. I always think of her every year at this time. I remember that she introduced our class to the world of classical music. She brought a wind-up phonograph to school and brought it out to the playground where she would play her precious classical music recordings for us and let us dance to the music. I recall the film she had us view, "Tales of Hoffman", and I'll never forget those images.

God Bless this woman who taught me so much. Wherever she is in the universe, I wish her a very "Happy Birthday" on this May Day and every year!

The Peace Vigil Before the war in Iraq (from Maureen's Website)
Last evening, between my day job and my night job, I and 220 others held a Vigil for Peace down by the mall in Ventura. It was very touching to see all of us standing there in the cold and wind. There were oldsters like me, who dated back to protesting the war in Vietnam, to the young families who were teaching their children that Democracy means that everyone has a voice, even the smallest. It was a struggle to keep our flames from blowing out and we were constantly re-lighting our candles from one another.

It reminded me of when we used to do the candle lighting services in Church, except that inside the church we were safe from the cold and the winds and also the jeers of passers-by. However, by being a witness to the world, we also found resonance with many who drove by honking their horns, making the sign for peace, and those who simply looked with questioning faces.

I remember once saying to the congregation that they needed to remember that every time that they lit someone else's candle their own was in no way diminished, but was for a moment made brighter still as the other's began to blaze. It became a privilege to light each other's candles because we lost nothing in that.

I found myself humming our closing song for many of the churches I served, "Let There Be Peace on Earth". I used to think, how wonderful that so many churches in our denomination also were singing that song at the same time, as they all ended their services. This morning I looked at the website for the organizing group for the Peace Vigils and saw that there were over 6400 vigils in 129 countries that were involved.

The Archbishop Desmond Tutu, said, "On Sunday evening people in every corner of the globe will shine beacons of light throughout the world. May our candles rekindle the light of reason and hope so that war will be averted in Iraq and peace will prevail in the world." .

Remember when we were all children and we sang, "This Little Light of Mind, I'm Gonna Let It Shine"? Today, I am burning my candles, letting my light shine right here in my house. Praying for all the children of our family -- all our planetary family -- that they, and I, can learn to live in peace.
