Mauro Ortega Mendoza

The family announces with deep sorrow the unexpected passing of Mauro Ortega Mendoza on the morning of February 25, 2021 in Menifee, CA after battling COVID-19 pneumonia. Mauro was visited and comforted by family members near the time of his passing. He was 90 years young.

He is lovingly remembered as Father, Grandfather and Friend.

Mauro was born in Mexico in 1930 and migrated to the United States in his 20s. He lived most of his life in Placentia, CA where he raised his nine children and worked over 35+ years for Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. After he retired he became a long time resident of Riverside County residing 27+ years in Homeland, CA.

During Mauro’s retirement he spent much of his time visiting family, golfing with friends, walking and staying active with his outdoor projects. He was a devout Catholic and attended church regularly.

Mauro was a hard-worker, always had a smile on his face and a hat on his head. He enjoyed and lived his life always to the fullest.

Mauro was preceded in death by Maria Dolores Mendoza, his loving wife.

Mauro is survived by his nine children, thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 2:30PM. Viewing will be available at the chapel onsite from 1:00PM-2:00PM prior to the graveside services.

La familia anuncia con profundo dolor el inesperado fallecimiento de Mauro Ortega Mendoza en la mañana del 25 de febrero de 2021 en Menifee, CA despues de luchar contra neumonía de COVID-19. Mauro fue visitado y consolado por familia cerca del momento de su fallecimiento. Tenía 90 años.

Se recordara con mucho cariño como padre, abuelo y amigo.

Mauro nació en México en 1930 y emigró a los Estados Unidos cuando durante sus 20’s. Vivió la mayor parte de su vida en Placentia, CA, donde saco adelante a sus nueve hijos y trabajó durante más de 35 años para el Distrito Escolar Unificado Placentia-Yorba Linda. Después de jubilarse se convirtió en un residente del condado de Riverside durante más de 27 años en la ciudad de Homeland, CA.

Durante el retiro de Mauro, pasó gran parte de su tiempo visitando a su familia, jugando golf con sus amigos, caminando y manteniéndose activo en sus proyectos. Era un católico devoto y asistía a la iglesia con regularidad.

Mauro era un gran trabajador, siempre tenía una sonrisa en el rostro y un sombrero puesto. Disfrutó y vivió su vida siempre al máximo.

Mauro sera reunido con su amada esposa, Maria Dolores Mendoza.

A Mauro le sobreviven sus nueve hijos, trece nietos y varios bisnietos.

La velacion estará disponible en la capilla de Miller-Jones Mortuary en Menifee, CA el martes 23 de marzo de 2021 a la 1:00 p.m. y sera sepultado a las 2pm.
