Mike was born in Geneva, NY on 12 August 1950. He was the son of the late William Alexander Bergman and Emeline Garlick. He graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School, Geneva, NY class of 1968.
Mike moved to southern CA in his early 20’s and lived the rest of his life in and around the Upland area. He married Lynette Richardson and started a family. In 1980 with a few dollars, a home office, and an entrepreneurial spirit he and Lynn established Omega Microfilm, a business that he owned and operated for the next 40 years. He provided microfilm equipment and data storage services to a wide variety of businesses throughout Southern California including aviation, banking, and grocery chains. One of his favorite opportunities was to provide microfilm equipment as props to several Hollywood films.
In his youth he played the trumpet and rode motorcycles. Motorcycles gave way to driving Corvettes and his favorite car was the Corvette model produced for the 50th year of Corvette production. He enjoyed driving it on road trips of any length. He was a football fan and for many years a season ticket holder for the Raiders. He enjoyed a day at the gym and was a serious body builder, competing in multiple competition throughout southern CA. In addition to cars, football, and body building he was a voracious reader with diverse interest including military history, world religions, and political science.
Mike loved his family and was always full of good advice to answer life’s challenges. He was a believer in Jesus, and life everlasting, and now he will rest eternally in the house of the Lord. He will always be in our hearts and memories.
He is survived by his son, Matthew (Beth) Bergman of Anza, CA and their four children, Ezra, Ben, Madie, and Michael; his daughter Michelle (Michael) Kumpe of Hemet, CA and their two children Riley and Ryan; his sister Pat Bergman of Geneva, NY; his sister Liz (Joe) Bynum of Las Vegas, NV; his nephew David (Joanne) Maher of Geneva, NY; and great nieces Mariah (Mario) Fratto of Geneva, NY; and Mal Maher of Boston, MA; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his former wife Lynette Richardson; his brother Robert “Bergie” Bergman; and his nephew Stephen J. Maher.
There will be no calling hours and the family will hold a Celebration of his Life at a place and time yet to be determined.
