

Minerva R. Mikell, also known as "Minnie" to most, passed away at the age of 88, on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in San Jacinto, California. She was born to her parents Felipe Rodriguez and Maria Hilaria (Yulfo) Crespo, on Thursday, February 11, 1932, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She was one of 10 children, two passed as infants and three passed in adulthood.
After obtaining her Bachelor's from San Juan University in Puerto Rico, she went on to become a successful teacher for 7 years. While balancing her career, Minnie was also an amazing wife and dedicated mother. She married at the age of 21 to the love of her life, Walter Alexander Mikell Sr. and had been blessed with 62 years of marriage, before his passing in 2014. Their love for each other was a story book love story. They were blessed with 3 amazing children that would later make Minnie and Walter grandparents as well. In their spare time they enjoyed dancing and playing the piano. They were avid dancers at the Senior Centers, in Line Dancing, Merengue, Cha Cha and the Waltz, receiving several championships. They were also part of the Cowboys Western Clubs. Minnie and Walter's piano expertise were then passed to their children. Minnie was a strong, energetic, unforgettable, and beautiful soul who was loved by everyone who had the privilege to know her. Minnie is survived by her children Beverly Mikell and Walter Alexander Mikell Jr.; daughter-in-law Pat; ex son-in-law Jerome; her grandchildren, Aaron, Curtis, and Kenny; great-grandchild, Amora; and her siblings, Nana, Nene, Yiyo, and Junior. Minnie has joined her beloved husband, Walter Sr. and her daughter Maria Mikell.
A graveside service will be held privately at Riverside National Cemetery.
