I will always remember Pat as a warmhearted and joyful person who loved first of all the Lord, then her family and friends. I always enjoyed getting together with her for lunch and fellowship and will miss those times - this side of heaven that is. I pray for Dan and all the members of the family that the Lord will comfort you and the wonderful memories you have of her will sustain you in the days of ahead without her. Memories from Friends and Family
On behalf of her friends and family I would like to share these stories and memories about my Grandma Pat. Gerry and Charlotte describe grandma Pat as an excellent researcher who added a lot to their studies with her findings. Marlene Churchill has this to say to Pat "Dear Pat, My mind with memories is full!  I think back and marvel at the wonderful tapestry our Father has ordained with both you and Dan. The first time we met, knocking on your door as a neighbor selling jewelry.  You were not very friendly, but I left a catalog, then went back a few days later. To my surprise we entered into a conversation, you mentioned you wanted to lose weight, so I asked you to go walking with me in the morning.  The rest is history.  We will meet again and walk on those streets of gold together all because HE knew you and Dan were ripe for harvest.  I can't wait to see you again.  Will miss you even though we were miles apart, just knowing you are not there in person." And finally Shari and Jim Duffin, my grandma pat's cousins, described a time that my grandma pat and Shari found a baby wandering in the street of her neighborhood and how grandma pat had them knock on doors to find the baby's family. Shari explained that she felt very blessed to have had Pat as one of her favorite cousins. She also describes Grandma Pat as a special spirit who will never be forgotten

Eulogy
My grandma Pat was born Patricia Gail Steelsmith on September 15, 1951 in Puyallup, Washington. Beloved daughter to Phillys and Pete and beloved sister to Steve, Mike, and Bernice. Pat was well-known for her relentless faith, impeccable intelligence, and delicious meals. This was reflected throughout the entirety of her life. Grandma Pat served in the Airforce from October 17, 1969 - June 30, 1976. Being the amazingly talented and ambitious woman she was, she quickly moved up the ranks.

Pat started out in the airforce as a basic airman in 1969.Whilst being in the airforce she showed outstanding performance and was described by her superiors as "a very capable individual who readily accepts responsibility [with] outstanding learning abilities..." Thereafter she was promoted every year, next as an airman, than as an airman first class, as a senior airman, as a staff sergeant, and finally as a technical sergeant. That's a total of 6 promotions attributed to her due to her "thorough and accurate" nature as well as her "desire to increase her personal value" as stated by a superior. These traits carried throughout the rest of her life.

1978 marks a very important year of her life, the year she met her husband, whom she spent the following 34 years with. Daniel and Pat met in the workplace, as organized by my grandpa. As an inventory control clerk while my grandpa was a warehouse supervisor Pat only had brief conversations over the phone with my grandpa. My grandpa Daniel, with piqued interest, called grandma Pat on the phone telling her she had to go to her boss's office. Upon first meeting grandma Pat saw my grandpa laid back in a chair with his feet on her boss's desk to which she stated: "Who do you think you are?" After being mesmerized by her beauty my grandpa then tried to ask Pat out, to which she refused. Knowing what he wanted, my grandpa thoroughly planned to take my grandma out. He then proceeded to learn about her through her friends, learning things such as what restaurants she liked to eat at, where she liked to go, and what she likes to do. After learning she was close to her father and loved going to baseball games he asked her to a game. However, again she said no. Confused, my grandpa went to his mother and asked her advice; she then told him to go to church, which he did. Whilst at the church he noticed someone praying in the front row, my grandma Pat. After a brief conversation and asking her out again he finally got a yes. Later, they married in 1979 becoming inseparable.

Grandma Pat had many hobbies. Some included playing accordion, cooking, attending church, and laughing. She loved to laugh and often-enjoyed conversations with her friends where she would say, "just listen to my voice" to keep everyone's attention. She was an amazing hostess and wonderful grandmother. She has a daughter named Angela and three granddaughters: me (Vanessa) age 21, Samantha age 17, and Ivanna age 14.

And finally I want to end with a poem written by my grandpa:

"We thought of you with love today but that is nothing new.

We thought about you yesterday and days before that too.

We think about you in silence, we often speak your name.

All we have are memories, and a picture in a frame.



Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part,

God has you in his keeping; we have you in our hearts
