

Ramon Favela Franco, 77 of Hemet, California passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Temecula Valley Hospital. He was born Tuesday, February 22, 1938, and was the son of the late Ramon and Teresa " Favela " Franco. He was married to the love of his life, Filomena " Damiano " Franco for over 56 wonderful years. He was a devoted husband, father and grand father. To his family Ramon was lovingly referred to as " Chico ". He was born in Mexico and was the youngest of four but was the only male. He went to school for a while then determined his family needed his help working to support them. As a young boy he came to the United States legally and worked. He then found there was work in San Jose so he and a buddy hitched hiked to San Jose and worked for the rail road. He supported himself and sent money home. After a couple of years worked for the Dole Canning Company. He then started working for a produce Company in Nogales, Arizona. For many years he worked 6 months out of the year in Nogales, Arizona and the other 6 months out of the year in Southern California for Oceanside Produce, Inc. He worked in the Agriculture business for over 40 years. He was known to work 100 hours a week. To say he was a hard worker is an understatement. Chico played hard too, He loved to play poker and was well known in the local poker rooms at the Indian Casinos. He took many vacations to Las Vegas and Reno so the family could have fun but also so he could try his luck. Some of his favorite foods were enchiladas and chile rellenos. Chico loved all sports but especially baseball where he liked the Angels and many teams in Mexico. His family describe him as stubborn, always right, very smart, and determined. Those that knew and loved him will sorely miss him. Preceded in death was his daughter Angelica Franco who passed in 1972 at the tender age of three. Surviving are wife Filomena Franco, sons, Jose Martin Franco and Eduardo Franco, daughters, Sandra Rodriquez and her husband Steve and Susan Mikkelson and her husband John. Sisters Amelia Morales and her husband Manuel, Guadalupe Garayzar, Armida Arnette and her husband Victor and Maria Jesus Gallegos and her husband Osvaldo, grand children Michael Martin Franco, Jose Sebastin Franco, Charlie Gallardo, Pamela Gallardo and Kendra Lee Jones.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Hemet, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet, California. His final resting place will be in Nogales, Arizona.
