

Murrieta CA -- Ramona Jean (Kern) Norris passed away peacefully in her home with family at her side on December 3, 2011. Her family describes her as the image of grace and compassion and the center of their lives. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always there for her family.
Ramona was born near Hardin, Montana in 1932, the daughter of Alex and Elizabeth Kern. She attended Hardin schools and graduated from high school before entering the Air Force where she became a radio operator, and met her husband Thomas Norris, who was from Boston, Massachusetts. After leaving the service they both lived for a short time in Billings, Montana before moving to Southern California.
Ramona, (or Jean, as friends called her) and Thomas had three children, Stephanie, Steven and Sheila. Her husband, Thomas, preceded her in death in 1982; her sister, Patricia Miller, in 1987, her mother Elizabeth, in 1989 and her father, Alex in 2000. She is survived by her brother Dennis (Billings, MT), her three children, Stephanie Wilcutt, Steven Norris, and Sheila Risinger; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Ramona was known for her loving and caring nature. She hand stitched a quilt for each family member and was known for her quilting skills. She belonged to the Ya Ya Sisterhood Quilting club for many years and regarded the members as her best friends.
Ramona will be buried next to Thomas at 10:30am on Monday, December 19th, (Their wedding anniversary) at Riverside National Cemetery.
