Richard Douglas Kidder

His was a life beautifully lived and so deeply loved - one of a patient, kind, quiet reserve devoted to his family. Those same qualities were also shared with the many students he taught. Rick passed away on September 29, 2025 at the age of seventy- eight. He was born April 20, 1947 in Seattle Washington and grew up in Vista California. He attended U C Santa Barbara where he met his wife Leslie and graduated from Chico State University. He later earned his master's degree from University of La Verne. He retired as a teacher from Hemet Unified School District after thirty-six years in education. He is survived by his wife Leslie, children Eric, Brett (Katherine), Alyssa (Gene Hurd) and four grandchildren; Siblings Barbara Short (Steve), Don Kidder (Mickey) and Doug Kidder (Julie); In-laws Vicki Rathbone (Don), Denise Serpa (Danny), Cindy Choate, Stewart Vernon and numerous nieces and nephews. Rick served as a Cub master, soccer coach and was active in the Hemet Teachers Association. He attended Spirit of Joy Community Church. No formal services are planned. We are forever grateful to the City of Hope for their compassionate care, support and additional time they enabled us to share with Rick.
