Robert Earl Mills, 86 of Temecula, CA passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016, in Perris, CA. He entered into this life on Monday, January 6, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA, born one of nine children to his parents Benjamin and Vivian Mills.
Robert was an extraordinary man and when he had set his mind to do something, he wouldn't stop until he achieved it. An example of this is the two times Robert joined The United States Marine Corps. The first time was when Robert was 16 years old and he wasn't completely honest with the recruiting officer about his birth year. He was able to get in a few weeks of basic training before a truant officer found him and took him back home. When Robert turned 18 he reenlisted (using his correct date of birth) and picked up where he left off. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family will attest. Robert was A strong, self-willed and religious young man who worked hard to make the rank of gunnery sergeant. Robert has been described by fellow Marines as "the toughest Marine in the 2nd half of the twentieth century". He later met and married the love of his life, Alma Priemesburger. He loved her deeply until the day of his passing. Robert and Alma had three children together; Billy, Jenny, and Donny. He not only just loved his children, he took pride in being a father and role-model. Robert developed a passion for building, so he went to school and obtained a license to work as a General Contractor. He began building residential homes as well as commercial buildings that still remain throughout the Inland Empire.
Robert was a family man. He loved every moment he had with his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Robert loved making tacos with his family and playing "I'll buy" card game with his grandchildren. In the latter years of his life, he was blessed with 5 Great-Grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. They lit up his life. They were pure joy to him. He was so proud of being a great grandfather, that when he would go out with them he would tell every waitress, store clerk, or even stranger he passed that these were his great grand babies. Even in his last few months while, in and out of hospitals no matter how weak he was he always wanted to be holding or spending time with his great grand babies! He loved them so much and they loved there Papa.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Our love for you remains eternal. Forever loved, forever missed.
Robert is survived by his wife Anna Mills, son Billy Mills, son Donny Mills and his wife Laurie Mills, daughter Jennifer (Mills) Maxam and her husband Bob Maxam. Five grandchildren, Maggie Mae (Erickson) and husband David Erickson, Robert Maxam, Dillon Mills, Wendi (Mills) Nameth and her husband Lew Nameth, and Gina Mills. Five great grandchildren, Calvin Erickson, Hailee Joy Erickson, Luke Nameth, Jack Nameth, and Asher Nameth.
