

Robert Alan Ross-Clunis, 75 of Idyllwild, California passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at home. He was born on January 16, 1943 at Newport News Virginia to the late Hayden and Elizabeth Ross-Clunis. He joined the Navy after High School where he received continued education. Ross worked as an Engineer for many years and also taught Graphic Arts at Art Center College of Design. He liked the coast and lived on a boat in San Pedro and Marina Del Ray for many years. He invented and is credited for the Auto Helm self steering for sailboats which is still in use today. He decided he wanted to move to the mountains and lived in Idyllwild for over 8 years. Ross loved the home town atmosphere that Idyllwild gives its residences. Ross loved to ride his mountain bike on all the trails and hike them with his best canine friend Dillard. His family describes him as having a wonderful sense of humor, very tech savvy and he was a patient teacher. He will be missed by those that knew and loved him. Surviving is his sister Gay Ross-Clunis,nephews Hayden Ross-Clunis III Seaford VA, and Edward Ross-Clunis Richmond VA; niece Mary Henkel; friends Barbara Jansen; Debra Barker; Services will be private.
