

Born Thursday, December 22, 1927 in Los Angeles, California, he was the son of the late Ellwood Sterner and the late Helen (Dayton) Sterner. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Pape) Sterner.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a heavy duty mechanic for the Department of Water and Power in Los Angeles County for 31 years.
He was a car enthusiast and had a passion for vintage cars, particularly the Ford Model-T and Model-A. He was a proud member of numerous car clubs, including the Cruizin A’s Ford Model-A Club, Horseless Carriage Club of America, Long Beach Model-T Club, Model-T Ford Club of America, Valley Cruisers Club and the Model-T Club of So Cal. On two occasions, Robert had his Model-T shipped to Europe where he participated in a 3-week tour throughout several countries all across Europe.
Robert liked telling jokes and telling stories about his Model-T and Model-A touring adventures. He had many friends in the clubs he belonged to, including Jim McComas, Dennis Jennison and Tim Dahl.
He also enjoyed travelling, he went to Hawaii 9 times with his late wife, Ruth, who loved exploring the islands.
Surviving are his close friend, Linda Moore, nieces, Ruth Ann Nelson and Barbara Isenhart, sister-in-law, Kathy Scruggs and brother-in-law, Ken Scruggs.
Robert will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
