

Rose Ann Elkins (Lawson) also known as “MON” was born on April 28, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama. She was the first born of nine children to James Lawson and Lee Ann Lawson (Crumpton). She was a resident of Hemet CA since 1991. She passed away unexpectedly at the age of 73 from lung cancer on Nov 7, 2021, at 7:15pm. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Rose Ann was raised in Pensacola, Florida, she graduated from Booker T. Washington high school in 1966. While in high school she served as the secretary and member of the Cooperative Education club (DCT) where she learned technical skills in business. She used those skills to intern at a local library when she moved to Boston, Mass. to start her educational career. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Boston University. While life led her to San Diego, California. She was hired by National University in 1978 where she earned her Master of Business Administration in 1979, Master of Arts in counseling in 1980, and found love in San Diego and married Lee Elkins in 1986, she completed her Master of Arts in human behavior in 1989. Her life ended too soon before completing her doctorate, this would have fulfilled a long-time dream.
She recently retired from National University after 41 years as a dedicated librarian, where she had the opportunity to be a mentor, valuable scholar, and friend to many. Rose Ann had a great love for books and encouraging others to learn. She enjoyed reading, gardening, shopping, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She hoped to volunteer her time as a librarian at local elementary schools and libraries. She was also looking forward to traveling, seeing new places, and visiting family and friends along the way.
Rose Ann is survived by her husband Lee Elkins, niece (Daughter) Sharon McNeal of Murrieta, Calif, Mother Lee Ann Crumpton of Pensacola, Fla., sisters Emma Turner of Prichard, Alabama, Amanda Dunlap of Chicago, Ill., Betty Crumpton-Tyson of Pensacola, Fla., and brothers Billy Crumpton and Robert Crumpton of Pensacola, Fla.
Rose is preceded in death by her grandparents Lewis and Amanda Lawson, her infant daughter Rose Ann Elkins, father James Lawson, sister Barbara Jean Phillips, brothers Willie James Lawson and Bobby Crumpton.
She is loved and will be remembered by her laughter, her beautiful smile and magnetic personality.
