Rosezelpha “Zel” Chestine Denchfield

Rosezelpha “Zel” Chestine Denchfield of Hemet, CA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She passed away peacefully at The Village in Hemet, CA at the age of 78.

Zel was born on December 28, 1942 in Oklahoma City, OK to Mickie and Sam Hood. She was raised by her mom and her forever dad Clifford Fletcher when they married.

Zel grew up in Del City, OK and graduated from Del City High School in 1959. She went on to graduate from cosmetology school. Zel was married in 1960 and moved to California to become a California girl as her present husband calls her. She worked as a bank teller for many years in California and New Mexico.

Zel first saw the love of her life, Jerry Denchfield, at a hair salon. She noticed how loving and kind he was before she even knew that one day they would fall in love and marry. Later they actually met at a Dinner Dance. They began dating and then married on March 16, 1985. They loved to travel and made many great memories together in Coronado and San Clemente, CA and Maui, Hawaii. They also went on many trips with friends from Sun City, CA.

Zel is survived by her husband Jerrold Ray Denchfield of Hemet, CA, sister Brenda Royse of OK, brothers-in-law Ronald Denchfield of CA and Keith Denchfield of KS, children David Hennessey and wife Catina of TX, Douglas Hennessey of OK, Amy Witherspoon and husband Richard of CA, Vanessa Smith and husband Wayne of CA, Pamela Hughes and husband Denny of AZ, and Suzanne Smith and husband Ray of IL, grandchildren Tabitha Hennessey, Tyler Hennessey, Jeremy Smith and wife Briana, Justin Smith and wife Michelle, and Joshua Smith and wife Sarah, and great grandchildren Wyatt Smith, Penelope Smith, and Tristan Smith.

Zel was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Fletcher, Sam Hood, father-in-law Ray Denchfield, mother-in-law Mildred Denchfield, brother-in-law Dr. Dayton Royse, M.D., and sisters-in-law Pat Denchfield and Carolyn Denchfield.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Miller-Jones Mortuary. Memorial service will be private. Zel will be remembered for her positive outlook on life, her love of her family, and her warm smile. Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever.
