Rudy was born in Waukegan, Illinois, where he lived the Slovene culture, was raised in a traditional old country fashioned home and attended Waukegan High School. “Dude", as he was affectionately known by his siblings, loved the outdoors: camping, hiking, fishing, off-roading & riding his motorcycle or snowmobile. He was a scuba diver and acquired his private pilot's license. He was always fascinated with fast cars. Rudy taught himself how to fix cars and when he was a young man, he and his younger brother built go-karts. They'd take those go-karts to races throughout Illinois & Wisconsin bringing home trophies which were typically first place! He became a certified mechanic and worked for various auto dealerships. As a hobby, he was a Crew Chief for a car racing team, traveling to various parts of the United States.
In 1977, he moved to California with his brother where he eventually met & married the love of his life & best friend, Marilyn. She was his world. They were inseparable for 28 years, and even got baptized together. A favorite memory of Rudy's was when he got to take laps around the speedway in Fontana, California, fulfilling his wish to drive as fast as possible! He later retired from Menifee Union School District where he worked as a mechanic on school buses. He & Marilyn especially enjoyed taking road trips in their RV traveling the states, going on vacation to the beach & desert with the grandkids and relaxing at home on their one acre property with their pets & farm animals.
He was a sincere, hard working, unassuming and kindly man who loved deeply. He always had a quick witted remark or joke at the ready, followed with a mischievous grin and twinkle in his eye as he awaited your response. Rudy, you will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved you. We know your soul is now at peace as you rest in the arms of your Heavenly Father.
Rudolph was predeceased by his parents Rudolph & Lucille and his sister, Lucille. He is survived by his devoted wife Marilyn; brother Bob; sisters Elizabeth, Norma & Mary Ann; his three stepchildren Debra, Irene, & Michael; his seven grandchildren Christian, Jonah, Anna, Nolan, Aidan, Jack, & Benjamin and his nieces & nephews Nanda-Devi, Derek, Jennifer, Beth Anne, Rob, Kate, Becky, Kimberly, Daniel & Ricky and his faithful companion dog, Sam.
