Ryan Dale Gillis was born Friday, January 19th, 1990 at Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, California. His toddler years were spent in Pico Rivera before moving to Whittier. It was here that Ryan began his journey as a Big Brother; sharing his home and family with nearly 15 children who were fortunate enough to call him "Brother."
It was also at this young age that Ryan began playing hockey, which would lead to a lifelong passion. He and his family moved to Claremont where Ryan went to elementary and middle schools. Later he attended Temescal Canyon High School where he met the majority of his friends, which he still has today.
Ryan had a love for Marvel superheroes, anime, Star Wars, Jurassic Park and of course the Anaheim Ducks. He was very eclectic with his taste in music, enjoying everything from Weird Al to Hank Williams and Drop Kick Murphy's.
He is survived by his parents Diana and John, sister Sandi, girlfriend Shalisse, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will never let his memory be forgotten.
The Gillis family would like to thank Pastor Tyler, Lori Baringer and all of
their family and friends for their support during this difficult time.
"The Broken Chain"
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
