

Samie Lee Woods, Jr., 71 of Moreno Valley, California passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in Riverside, California. He was born Wednesday, December 3, 1941 in Vance, Mississippi to the late Samie Woods, Sr. and Senora Williams.
He lived his life on the philosophy "that if you have strong determination one can accomplish anything one set their mind to do". Mr. Woods, served in the United State Air Force for 26 years before retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, and then upon retiring from the military he began working for the United States Postal Service for 17 years as a mail processing clerk, before retiring.
His interest and hobbies included playing pool, fishing, listening to Blues & Jazz, playing card games (Pinochle), and spending time with family and friends.
Samie leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47 years Annie; two children, Letitia (Dwayne) Holland (Kingsland, GA) and Samie L. Woods, III (Moreno Valley, CA); four grand-children, Dwayne D. Holland, Jr., David L. Holland, Ebony Y. (Jeff) Hoggard (Kingsland, GA), and Lonnie D. Woods (Savannah, GA); five great-grandchildren, Noah Anthony Jackson, Nikolas Hoggard, Natasha Alderman, Dwayne D. Holland, III, and Dy'zon D. Holland; three sisters, Florine (Willie) Kirkwood (Farrell, MS), Martha Jean Barber (Shelby, MS), and Murdis (Michael) Lynch (Clarksdale, MS); five brothers, T.J. (Sheila) Barber (Tallahassee, FL), Terry (Bobbie) Williams (Horn Lake, MS), Robert Barber, Joe Willie Williams, Eddie Williams (all of Clarksdale, MS), best friend retired Senior Master Sergeant Percy (Betty) Arnold (Jacksonville, AR), a goddaughter, Teveannah Smith (Moreno Valley, CA), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his sisters Ruthie Lee Woods and Elsie Barber.
