Shirley Bonita Lindsey, the eldest daughter of seven siblings, was born November 25, 1955 in Hollandale, Mississippi to the late Jeff Sr. and Odessa Lindsey. She spent her early years in Zion, Illinois, before the family relocated to Los Angeles, California. Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Shirley was active as a youth, working by the age of sixteen, and sometimes took on the role of "Momma".
Shirley graduated from Locke High School in 1974. Later, she began her career as a Paralegal, working for various law firms throughout the greater Los Angeles area, while establishing great relationships along the way. She moved her family to Perris, California where she eventually joined First Baptist Church to continue her love for the lord.
Shirley was an amazing woman full of life with a very strong personality; she was ALWAYS there if you needed her. She enjoyed putting together family events, gardening, baking, arts & crafts, gag gifts, pranking people and ensuring overall that everyone was happy. She was very proud of her family and loved her "grandbaby" Alani to no end. She was the rock of the family, and given the nickname "Shaft" because she did not play when it came to them.
In the early hours of December 10, 2014, in Perris, California, Shirley was called home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her mother Odessa, father Jeff Sr. and three brothers, Patrick, Jeff Jr. and Tommy.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her devoted partner Caleb, two sons Ricky & Corey; daughter Dyltania, granddaughter Alani, grandsons Kalief, Jahkobi and Messiah, stepfather Charles Bradford, four sisters Bernice, Ernestine, Patricia and Charlotte; one brother James; nieces Sequoia, Aja, Brandy, Chanel, Lindsey, Amanda, Tyeshia, Brittney, Crystal and Christy. Nephews: Andre, Dana, Tommy Jr., Jeff III, John and Tomorrus. Daughter-in-law Monica; brother-in-laws: Anthony, Perry, Donald, and a host of family, close friends and co-workers.
