

Age 84 of Hemet, California passed away on April 7, 2016 in the comfort of her cherished home with her beloved husband, Paul Pettit by her side. She was born January 17, 1932 in Kansas to the late George and Alice Jennings.
After moving to California at the age of 10, she grew up in Lomita, attended Narbonne HS ('49) and married the love for her life in 1951. Shirley and Paul settled in to their new house in Lomita, Calif where she became the wife of Baseball's first Bonus Baby and was actively involved in St. Margaret Mary Church and School where she volunteered with various guilds and fund raisers. Shirley enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and was the ultimate homemaker, showering family, friends and neighbors with fruits, vegetables and pies. Shirley was always available to help out anyone in need, throwing herself completely at any problem. She loved a challenge, was a poet and artist with incredible skills to improvised and provide creative ideas. She enjoyed 65 years of marriage to Paul and was blessed with six children, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Paul, her children and spouses, Paul (Cecile), Mark (Anita), Cindy, Tim (Renate), Mike (Connie), Stefanie, plus her 12 grandchildren, 9 great grand-children, her sister Juanita Cooke and scores of nephews and nieces.
Shirley was a remarkable woman, a great role model, wife, mother, grandmother and master of ingenuity. Her magnanimity, smile and sense of humor will be missed. May the Lord bless her and keep her safe for eternity.
