Steven George Keeney

On September 21, 2019, Steven George Keeney, loving father, husband, and devoted mentor died in the peace of his home. He was 66 years old. Steve was born on December 29, 1952 in Los Angeles,CA to Ethyl Royce Blair and Harry W. Keeney. On October 22, 1977 he married Linda van Lommel and raised two daughters, Stephanie and Rachel. Steve’s hobby was scuba diving and spending time with his family, he loved his cruises.

Steve spent 30+ plus years as a claims investigator earning the prestigious CPCU credential. But his real devotion was serving his Lord and Savior. This came in many forms in the way of several short term missionary trips to the Philippines, Vanuatu and French Polynesia. His passion was to the study of the Bible as well as the intricate studies of Logic and Philosophy. He earned his Bachelor of Biblical studies from Calvary Chapel Bible College where he spent 18 years teaching.

To many, he was known to be one of the great minds of Biblical studies. For many years, Steve taught as an adjunct professor at Calvary Chapel Bible college at both the Vista and Murrieta campuses along with various schools of Ministry at several churches. He was known for his intellectual abrasiveness and giant heart.

Steve made many lifelong friends and became a well-respected mentor of his students. Steven welcomed each of his students into his life as if they were his own children. The majority of his free time was spent studying and reading books, especially by his friend and his own mentor Dr. Norman Geisler.

Steven was preceded in death by his mother Ethyl, his father, Harry and step-father Larry Rear. He is survived by his wife, Linda and two daughters, Stephanie and Rachel and his siblings Anita, Kimberly, Tom, Clay Rear and Danielle Rear-Greer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Revival Church in Menifee, CA at eleven o’clock am. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Veritas International University http://www.ves.edu
