

Aubrey Lee Grant, age 87, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Aubrey was born on January 30, 1935. During his childhood, the family moved to Los Angeles, where he was raised and completed school. In July, 1953, with the Korean War winding down, Aubrey enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve incurred a two-year active duty commitment with six follow-on years in the reserves. Private Grant, #1421203, was immediately transported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego where he joined the 4th Recruit Training Battalion for boot camp.
As part of his enlistment contract, he was immediately promoted to private first class upon graduation in January, 1954, and assigned the military occupational specialty of 0300 – Basic Infantryman. During the course of subsequent infantry training at Camp Pendleton, he was sent to supply school, and on 28 April, his MOS was changed to 3000 (basic supplyman).
On 29 April, 1954, he received orders to join the Marine Corps Training Center at 29 Palms, California. There, he worked in Service Company issuing and receiving equipment, maintaining basic equipment in serviceable condition, and maintaining inventory records. In January, 1955, based on his performance and acquired knowledge of supply procedures, he received the MOS 3011, supply man. On 25 July 1955, he completed his active-duty obligated service, and the following day was transferred to the 12th Marine Recruiting and Reserve District to begin his inactive service. In July 1961, Pfc Grant completed all service obligation to the Marine Corps and received an Honorable Discharge for his service.
Following his service, Aubrey, went back to California, where he would work and start a family. In 1985, while working as a smog inspector, he would meet his life partner and soul mate, Cristina Vega. For the next couple of years, they would work together, until Aubrey opened his own automotive repair business in southern California.
Aubrey owned and operated his own automotive repair business until 1996; when he would close down his shop for a new venture that involved he and Cristina relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. Aubrey then worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic until 2001 when he officially retired.
After many years of sharing their lives and families; Aubrey and Cristina were married on September 23, 2015 at a private civil wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Aubrey is survived by his wife, five children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and extended family.
A military service of honor for Aubrey will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
