

Barbara Jean Nelson Ursenbach passed away peacefully on May 20, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born in Brigham City, Utah. She was the daughter of Tommy and Grayce Nelson. Barbara grew up in Boulder City, Nevada. In 1952, she was selected as Miss Nevada in the first Miss Universe Pageant. She represented cosmetic companies and traveled extensively throughout Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Idaho. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served in many leadership and teaching positions. She loved studying the scriptures and taking Institute of Religion classes. She enjoyed attending the temple and served for many years as a Temple Ordinance worker in the Las Vegas Nevada Temple. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gordon Ursenbach; her sons, Tommy Clark, James Clark and Rob Swenson; her sister, Diane Earl; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 24th from 10:00 — 10:45 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 1725 Palora Avenue, with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Palm Mausoleum in Boulder City located at 551 Adams Boulevard.
