

resident of Nevada. She was born in Denver, Colorado January 30, 1949 to Ruth Wilson Kearns
and John Tyo Kearns. She grew up in Denver, Colorado and attended the Wallace School and
worked for a time at The Pride Pet Palace pet shop on South Colorado Boulevard In the 1960s to
early 1970s. She moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1980, and to Las Vegas in the mid -1980s.
She worked for many years at Opportunity Village in Las Vegas and was an avid bowler even
participating in the Special Olympics.
She had an interest in all of her extended family members, and was always happy to hear about
what events and achievements were gained by family. Betsy learned to play the piano, and
always enjoyed singing when attending church services. Jigsaw puzzles were no match for her
abilities to find the right piece based on shapes and colors.
Betsy is survived by one sister, Gail Kearns Keneipp of Carbondale, IL and three brothers: John T.
Kearns (Laurie) of Centennial, Colorado; Richard T. Kearns (Helen) of Pleasant Hill, California;
and Robert Michael Kearns (Sue) of Wellington, Nevada. Her parents preceded her in death
with John T. Kearns in 1969 and Ruth Wilson Kearns in 1992.
Placement of Betsy's ashes in the rose garden where her mother's ashes were strewn in 1992,
will be at Palm Mortuary on Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada on Friday, May 9, 2025 at
10:00 am.
