Daniel Steven Varvar

Daniel S. Varvar, 77, of Henderson, NV passed away on October 21, 2025. He was born on June 26,1948 in Uniontown, Pa. His family moved to Akron, Ohio and later to New Cumberland, Pa. Dan graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in 1966.

He entered the Air Force in 1966 as an Avionics Instrument Technician and was honorably discharged in 1969 as a Sergeant. He attended Harrisburg Area Community College for two years and graduated from Vale Tech Institute in auto repair training at Blairsville, Pa. Dan started an appraisal business, Auto Damage Appraisals in Harrisburg. During this time, he earned a private pilot's license. Upon moving to Las Vegas in 1979, he was employed by Farmers Insurance Company, Grisham Insurance Company and State Farm as an auto adjuster.

Dan had many passions: flying, photography, voice-overs, music recording, scuba diving, kayaking, playing guitar and ukulele, traveling with friends, and golfing. He had a zest for learning. His goal in life was to put a smile on someone's face each day.

Dan was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Joseph and Millie Havercheck Varvar (McCarroll), Tom McCarroll, sister-in-law Dolores Szollosy King, and brother-in-law, Neil Roth of Marysville, PA.

Dan is survived by his wife and soulmate of 54 years, Louise, sister, Susan Anspach and husband Tom of Harrisburg, PA., brother-in-law, Louis Szollosy of Lewes, DE, sister-in-law, Joan Chak and husband, Charles, of Chalfont, PA., brother-in-law, David Szollosy and partner, Alan Weaver of Warrington, PA., Helen Szollosy, (his favorite) sister-in-law of Mechanicsburg, PA., and Ann Marie Roth, of Marysville,PA.

The family would like to thank the caretakers and staff at Home Instead and A-Caring Hospice for their warmhearted, compassionate care.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 924 So. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89005 at 10:00 AM. Interment at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV 89005 will follow at 11:20 AM.

A Celebration of Dan's life will be held at a later date.
