Donald Max Shoopman

Donald Max Shoopman, age 79, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023. He was born one of seven children to his parents Harold and Idumea Shoopman in Edinburgh, Indiana. Max graduated from Edinburgh high school and attended Purdue University for two years. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army where he earned Expert Marksman, and served honorably in Germany during Vietnam as a military Photographer.

Following his service, Donald, went on to continue his education. He took great pride in his obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Physics from Purdue University in 1970. This would prepare Max for a long and distinguished career working as a software engineer.

Donald was a loving husband, grandfather, and great grandfather; who enjoyed spending time with his family, taking train and car trips, cooking, and working in his cactus garden. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed playing golf and was an avid reader. Donald lived his life to the fullest, and will truly be missed.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Jack, David, and Raymond; one sister, Becky; and his stepson, Bruce Damon Gomes. He Donald is survived by his wife, Lydia Orozco Shoopman; stepdaughters: Diedra Michelle Gomes-Hagood, and Dominique Josette Sciarra (Vincent); grandchildren: Christopher Gomes, Dominic Hagood; Jacquie Josette Sanchez (Sam), and Jillian Michelle Burnett (Brandon); great grandchildren: Demariae, Kaliyah, Zaeloni, and Max Gomes; Julianna Josette and Roman Lucas Sanchez; and Kannon Vincent Burnett; sisters: Wanda Marlin and Belinda Deaver; Nephews: David, Jim, and Rick Shoopman; Brent and Brad Marlin; and nieces Rebecca Franchino, Christy Shoopman, and Lisa Marlin.

A memorial mass for Max will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Louise De Marillac Church, 2005 Crest Drive, El Cajon, CA 92021. A memorial service with military honors will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at El Camino Memorial Park, 5300 Carroll Canyon Park, San Diego, California 92121. Private Inurnment of Maxe's ashes will follow. A repast will follow on at 2:00 PM at Felippi's Pizza Groto, 5353 Kearny Villa Road, San Diego, California 92123.
