Dorothy Ann Gardner Helm, age 88, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family at her home in Boulder City, Nevada, on January 9, 2026.
She was born on November 11, 1937, to Kenneth and Frances Jane Gardner in Ely, Nevada, the youngest of two daughters. Dorothy Ann moved at a young age with her family to Salt Lake City, Utah where she grew up in the Sugar House area and graduated from East High School. She survived Rheumatic Fever as a child and spent over a year of her life at Primary Children’s Hospital. But that difficult moment, along with the early death of her father, and later, losing her sister, infant niece, and brother-in-law in a tragic car accident, were just a few of the harrowing moments in her life that made her the strong, empathetic person that she was. She knew that life was a gift, and she made the most of the time she was given with the ones she loved.
After High School, Dorothy Ann moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and on December 1, 1956, married the love of her life, Daniel Scott Helm. Together, they raised three sons while she lived the life of a Las Vegas Firefighter’s wife. Eventually, life events took them to Logandale, Nevada, where they built their home together and enjoyed the country life with family, friends, and neighbors. Later, they officially settled in Boulder City, Nevada, where Dan eventually passed away, and Dorothy spent the rest of her life investing her time and love into her family, as well as volunteering as a Historian at the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce.
Dorothy Ann is survived by her three sons: Daniel Scott Jr., Kenneth James, and John Duane; one daughter-in- law: Nancy; four grandchildren and their spouses: Heather Ann and Marcos, Daniel Scott III and Stacey, Ashly Nicol and Joshua, Sadie Jane and Joe; and seven great grandchildren: David Alejandro (Alex), Austin Joshua, Evelyne Grace, Isla Frances, Joseph John Jr. (Joey), Evelyn Lee, and Daniel Scott IV. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and daughter-in-law, Diana Lee, along with many relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on February 1, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, both at Palm Henderson Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Dorothy Ann will be privately laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
