Ginhawa Tejada Fajota, passed away peacefully at her residence in Henderson, Nevada, on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She recently celebrated her 85th Birthday.
Ginhawa was born in Olongapo, Philippines, on October 26, 1940, to her late parents, Edgardo and Veronica Tejada. She attended Naval Reservation Junior College (NRJC) in Olongapo, where she met the love of her life, Ramon Fajota, beginning a devoted relationship that would span 68 years. The couple married on July 2, 1960.
Following Ramon’s enlistment in the U.S. Navy, Ginhawa began her journey to the United States in 1965, joining him with their two young children. Throughout Ramon’s naval assignments, the family made their home in various states, including Virginia (Norfolk), South Carolina (Charleston), California (San Diego and Treasure Island), and Washington (Bremerton). Along the way, their family grew with the addition of three more children, making every new place they lived a warm and loving home. San Diego, California, became their longtime home, where they built many cherished memories together. It was there that her husband, Ramon, retired in 1989, and where Ginhawa dedicated over 20 years of hard work as an assembler.
Ginhawa was endlessly proud of her children and loved to share the story of where each of her five kids was born, retelling it with a smile and the same pride each time. Her love for her family shone through in everything she did—especially in her cooking. Known for her authentic Filipino dishes, she always had something delicious prepared, ready to serve anyone who happened to stop by. Whether you were hungry or not, she would insist you sit and eat, a gesture that perfectly captured her generous and nurturing spirit. Beyond the kitchen, she was a talented and creative soul—an exceptional sewer and artist who crafted beautiful ceramic figurines that reflected her attention to detail and love of beauty. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her, but her warmth, creativity, and care will live on in the hearts and homes she touched.
Ginhawa was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, and sister. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ramon Fajota; her children: Alma (Terry) Ferstle, Miriam Fajota-Pritchett, Ofelia (Elliott) Oakry, and Nolan (Doreen) Fajota; her daughter-in-law, Beth Fajota; 11 grandchildren: Noah, Desiree, Savanna, Kiana (Jeff), Madeline, Kecia, Shalese, Isabella, Kiera, and Nia, Kaden; and four great grandchildren: Solomon, Seth, Trinity, and Akari. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Romer Fajota; her granddaughter, Danika; and her son-in-law, Keith.
