

Gregory Melville Dunfield, aged 73 years, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2020, here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gregg was born on November 23, 1946, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His family moved to Norfolk, Virginia when Gregg was 11 years old. He graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia. He applied for and was granted U.S. citizenship at 18 years old, and received his B.S. in Production Management from Indiana University after a stint in the US Air Force. He also attended Union College for his Graduate work in Industrial Science.
Gregg was a U.S. Army reservist for 25 years with an active duty assignment during Desert Storm, and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in June 2002. His Army time was spent with the U.S. Army Reserve 405th Combat Support Hospital, Hartford, CT. As a CW he managed numerous projects in medical, engineering, and training commands.
His work life over the years (1969-2012) was with diverse national and international companies, and ranged from Financial Manager, Insurance Agent, Account Manager, National Account Manager Telecommunications, to Country Manager, USA, for a telecommunications company out of Australia. His last job after corporate life was as a civilian employee in one of his favorite places - United States Military Academy at West Point, S1 office.
Gregg has been a long time member of the NY State Jaycees, Toastmasters, and NY Wing Civil Air Patrol (Southeastern Group). As those who knew Gregg, his love of knowledge for all things Army/Military and history stands out. He was an avid reader, as the local library can attest (wherever he lived). And he loved all sports, especially the NY Yankees. Gregg loved to cook and try out new recipes. The daily crossword in the newspaper was a staple with his morning coffee.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, Roy and Elsie Dunfield.
He is survived by his sister Gwen (Bruce) Grasso, his sons Jonathan Dunfield and Patrick Dunfield, stepchildren Kari Dolfinger and Craig Elswick, his Niece and Nephew as well as grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Palm Mortuary in Henderson, NV, starting with a viewing at 9:30 am and memorial service at 10:30 am. The burial with Military Honors will be at noon in Boulder City, Nevada, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
