Harry E. Benner

Harry E. Benner, the son of Harry and Estella Stonesifer Benner, was born January 20, 1921 in Primghar, IA. On February 20, 2015, at the age of 94, his gentle soul was called Home. Harry attended school in Paullina and Sanborn, IA before entering the United States Navy during World War II, where he was Chief Fire Controlman. On December 21, 1940, Harry married Betty Fink Benner in Sanborn, IA. They were blessed with three children; Jeff Kummerfeldt of Germantown, IA who is married to Judy Kummerfeldt; Sally Benner Frampton of Medesto, CA who is married to Keith Frampton; and Jerry Benner of Heriot Bay, B.C. Canada. Harry’s wife, Betty, passed away in 1951. On June 10, 1953, Harry married Delores Richter Benner in Paulina, IA. They were also blessed with three children; Alan Benner of Henderson, NV who is married to Dorothy Benner; Lynn Benner Bieker of Las Vegas, NV who is married to Lance Bieker; and Cindy Benner Gibbs of Vale, AZ who is married to Mark Gibbs. Harry had 14 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. Harry was an electrician since 1950 and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local #357 in Las Vegas, NV. He was also a devoted member of First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Las Vegas, NV. Harry was a true outdoorsman and loved to play baseball, golf, hunt, and fish. In his later years he enjoyed watching sports and playing poker. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Edwin, Maynard, Robert and Richard Benner, and his sister Betty Ann Casler. He is survived and loved by his wife Delores of Henderson, NV; his brothers Charles Benner of Concord, CA and Jim Benner of Woodburn, OR; his sister Mae Richards of Westwood, CA; his 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
