Kathleen Rebbecca Ailshie—a daughter of God, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 75 in her home in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada after many years battling with infirmity and ill health.
Kathleen was born to Kenneth Ray Hall and Donna June Kazda on 3 October 1949 in the city of Orange, Orange County, California. When she was young Kathy spent a lot of time at her grandma Kazda’s house. There she learned how to sew at about age 7, and took piano lessons at about age 9 for a few years along with her sister Karen. She was a lifelong lover of any and all piano music. Kathy was a member of the Brownies and went on into Girl Scouts. She attended high school for the 9th grade in Alhambra, California. The family then moved to La Puente, California and she graduated high school there in 1967. After Graduation she began working at the telephone company as a switchboard operator and bought her first car, a Mustang. Her busy life soon became a family life with little ones and travel to and living in many different places. In October 1986 she was married civilly to David Ailshie by their local ward Bishop in Huntington Beach, California. One year later their civil marriage was sealed for Eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Kathy is survived by her siblings: Karen Patten, Kenneth Settles, Kasey Settles, and Kristie Jones; her husband David Ailshie, her living children: Wesley, Brian and Eric Johnson; Sean Ailshie; as well as David’s children: Brian Ailshie, Mark Ailshie, and Carol Dormady; and by the combined family’s total of 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Kathy was a proactive member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, interested in serving her family and in genealogical Family History. From a very young age and throughout her life Kathy was dedicated to finding her family, their stories, genealogies and pictures. In all facets of her life, the Gospel of Jesus Christ has prevailed as her guiding compass. Kathy loved God and His children by serving and assisting many she met in life and through the many ward auxiliary callings throughout her life. Kathy was especially talented in teaching about and implementing family disaster preparedness and food storage principles. Kathy became ‘the best bargain’, bargain hunter she could ever be and this talent allowed her to make and do a lot of creativity, crafting, collecting and scrapbooking: Her Life’s Passion.
