With her children and loved ones surrounding her, Lois Irene Morgan Lords passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18th, 2014, in Henderson, Nevada, at the age of 86.
Lois was born on December 9th, 1927, in Malad City, Idaho. She was the 2nd of five children and the only daughter born to Fenton Davis Morgan and Irene Bigler Morgan. Lois spent her childhood days in Rock Springs, Wyoming until her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho. She attended Pocatello High School, and was actively involved in pep clubs and was the Service Chairman in the Girls Reserve Club. After high school, Lois attended Stevens-Henager Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she earned a bachelors degree in secretarial science. She met her sweetheart Alvin Jabez Lords while attending Stevens-Henager. They formed a friendship and associated with others in the Idaho Club. Alvin was her campaign manager when she ran and won the position of Student Body Vice President, and was her escort when she became the Sweetheart Ball Queen. Lois and Alvin were married on June 10th, 1949, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their places of residence included Salt Lake City, Smithfield and Plain City, Utah. In July, 1972, they moved their family to Henderson, Nevada.
Lois was very proficient in typing and shorthand and held many secretarial positions,
for Prudential Life Insurance Co, The Agricultural College in Logan, Utah, Utah State Capital Building and the Utah State Industrial School in Ogden, Utah, among others. After moving to Nevada, Lois worked as a First Aide Safety Assistant in the Clark County School District for 27 years. She retired in 2003 at the age of 76.
Lois was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and faithfully served in the primary, young women’s and relief society organizations for many years.
She had a passion for porcelain dolls and was an avid collector. She loved traveling, doing yard work, strolling the mall and going out to eat with her sweetheart, Alvin. Lois and Alvin were inseparable and were together for 65 years. She is survived by 7 of her 8 children; Gregory Lords, Mesa, AZ; Debra Robinson, Danville CA; Douglas Lords (Debbie), Diane Lefler, (Rod), Carol Lamb (Shane), All of Henderson, NV; Kaylyn Dastrup (Mat), Lindon, UT, Holly Hess (Scott), Surprise, AZ; nineteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, her brother, Gordon Morgan, and many other dear family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, her daughter, Shari Jean, her brothers, Bobby, Mark, and Richard Morgan, and her parents, Fenton Davis Morgan & Irene Bigler Morgan.
