Lucia Cortes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucia Cortes, who passed away on March 14, 2025 at the age of 49. She was born on February 12, 1976 in Autlan, Mexico to Evelia Barragan and Apolinar Sanchez.

Lucia lived a life full of joy, laughter, and profound love for her family. She expressed her love in many ways but one of the ways she expressed her love was by cooking. She cooked the meals of loved ones that they liked and was happy seeing them enjoy their food. One of her most recent hobbies had been Diamond painting, which was so time consuming and required lots of patience but that didn't matter to her she was one of the most patient people i had ever known and turned a dotted numbering paper into an art piece.

Lucia meant different things to many people in her life including being a devoted wife to her husband Jose, and loving mother to her two children Melissa and Luis. She was always by their sides no matter what and was always someone they could go to for anything without feeling judged. She was an amazing grandmother to Leilani, which she was so happy to meet and cherish for a couple weeks. Lucia was also known as an amazing sister to Martha, Sandra, Apolinar, and Maria which she loved very dearly and cherished all the memories she ever made with them and letting her kids know all the adventures, and laughter she had with them. We can't forget to mention her as an aunt and how much she loved seeing every single one of her nieces and nephews grow.

Needless to say Lucia lived a life full of people that surrounded her with love and laughter, and with her family that never left her side no matter how hard it got and truly stayed with her until the very end.

A visitation for Lucia will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Henderson, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 204 S Boulder Hwy, Henderson, NV 89015. Lucia will be laid to rest at 2:00 PM in Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 S Boulder Hwy, Henderson, NV 89015.
