To Magdalena Garcia-Jarvis, the entire world was there for her to have fun! An expressive, optimistic, and uninhibited individual, she was always the life of the party. To everyone around her, she was eternally happy and she was willing to share that joy with anyone around. For Maida, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile, a witty remark, or her amazing laugh. Her enthusiasm and energy always contagious, there was never a dull moment around. And with just those simple gestures, she could evoke the most amazing moments to remember. Maida really mastered the art of living and had a wonderful time doing so.
The ability to be just a “kid at heart” helped her when she surprised us all with her first child. Connor is the amazing legacy Maida leaves behind; being as funny and wonderful as his mother and father raised him to be. As Connor grew older, his Father LA and Maida decided it was time to tie the knot. So on May 25, 2001, Maida exchanged wedding vows with Leonard Allen Jarvis at The Little Church of The West of Las Vegas, Nevada. Surrounded by loved ones, family, and friends- this ended up being an unforgettable occasion!
Maida enjoyed many different things in the recent years. These ranging from watching her son play sports to enjoying laughs and drinks with her loved ones. She also most recently became infatuated with television shopping- such as Home Shopping Network and QVC. However, this was not a sign of slowing down for Maida- as she loved to travel and to visit new and different places. She was naturally curious about things she was unfamiliar with and loved the real life adventure that came from visiting them. She was very impulsive and willing to try anything, at least once. Some of the memorable family vacations included Disney World, San Diego with her husband LA, and of course later again with her son Connor. This of course includes the many trips to California and Phoenix to visit loved ones!
Maida believed that you had to experience life, and her life in retirement was no different. When that day finally arrived in 2011, Maida took it in stride as one more way to have fun. With her boundless energy and a desire to get the most out of life, Maida remained busy with her son and husband and continued to enjoy life. Even in retirement, Maida continued to stay in touch with her family and loved ones.
Maida passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada. Maida had what looked to be a brain aneurysm, which ended up being the one battle of health Maida was not able to succeed. She is survived by her husband Leonard and her son Connor. With the help of her family, they hopefully will be able to help enjoy the legacy and life Maida left behind. Services were held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. Maida's ashes will remain with her husband and son in their home, so she will be there not only in spirit.
Maida brought joy to all of those around her. She never had a mean bone in her body. She loved to have a good time and was always looking on the bright side of things. She loved to share her energy, wit, and her zest for all of her activities with her friends and family. Magdalena Garcia-Jarvis lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her. Even though she will be immensely missed, her family and friends cannot help to remember her with a smile.
