Maria Blasa Zubiate, age 58, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023. She was born in Tijuana, Mexico on February 7, 1965. Her father Sabas Ruacho would then relocate baby Maria to live with his mother (her grandmother) Maria Blasa Torres in Salinas, California for a better life, and where she spent most of her childhood.
Maria would meet the love of her life, Ricardo at El Sausal Junior High in Salinas, California, where they were friends for a while off and on. When Maria was planning her Quinceanera she needed a chambelan (honor escort). Her friends signed Ricardo up for the job, they fell in love and stayed together ever since. They went on to have their son at a very young age then got on a greyhound bus to Salt Lake City, Utah where Ricardo had work to help support his new family. Maria and Ricardo lived in Salt Lake City together from 1981 to 2020.
Maria moved her younger sister to Salt Lake City with her where they would both live in the same city for 30 something years. Her sister, Ruth would go on to have 6 kids of her own and Maria would help raise and take in those children with love and open arms. Ruth's kids would go on in life to call Maria a second mom. Maria and Ruth were such close sisters, all of their kids' children would go on to call both women grandmas.
Maria loved to scrapbook; creating anything out of paper from flowers, books, to bags. She was known for having the most craft supplies in her office; some called it a mini Micheals craft store. Maria was the craftys woman everyone knew and loved. She loved birthdays, family parties and all holidays. She always remembered everyones birthdays, so she could create the best birthday themed decorations for them.
To help support her family, Maria worked as a head custodian for the Granite School District in Salt Lake City for 18 years, until she got hurt on the job, and was forced her into early retirement. Maria then became a full time mother and grandmother again for the rest of her years.
Once her husband Ricardo retired, they both knew they would one day move to Las Vegas which was always one of their favorite cities to travel. She and Ricardo both love the heat, the desert and all the activities that Vegas had to offer. It was also in-between their Utah and California families; which was very important to them. If you asked Maria why move to las vegas; she would say, "because I hate the snow and cold." Yet she lived in utah 40 years because she loved her family so much she stayed as long as she could for everyone else.
Maria was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; who was one of those people that always made you feel special. She took the time to make everyone feel loved and welcome no matter who you were. She was friends with everyone that met her, and she will truly be missed.
Maria was preceded in death by her father, Sabas Ruacho. She is survived by her husband, Ricardo Rene Zubiate; her son, Ricardo Emanuel Zubiate; her daughter, Cecilia Maria Flores (Cesar); her grandchildren: Andre` Rene Flores, Aria Maria Flores, and Zion David Zubiate; her sister, Ruth De Alba, one half sister, Brenda Ruacho; and two half brothers: Frank and Sabas Ruacho.
